Ms. Monowara Habib joined as Controller General of Defence Finance (CGDF) on February 10, 2021. She is a member of the 8th batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (Audit and Accounts Cadre). She joined the civil service on 20th December, 1989. She obtained her BA (Hons.) and MA (Masters) degree in English Literature from University of Dhaka. She completed her school and college education in 1979 and 1981 respectively.
She has wide experience of working in various capacities in the Audit and Accounts Department of Bangladesh. Immediately before joining as CGDF she was working as the Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General (Senior) in the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh. During her long career she worked in all three areas Civil, Defence & Railway Accounts. Previously, she worked as Director General in Financial Management Academy, Senior Finance Controller (Army), Senior Finance Controller (Air Force), Senior Finance Controller (Navy), Joint Director General Finance (JDG) Bangladesh Railway, Chief Accounts officer (CAO) Ministry of Food, Chief Accounts officer (CAO) Ministry of Primary & Mass Education, Chief Accounts officer (CAO) Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Chief Accounts officer (CAO) Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Director, Railway Audit Directorate. Besides, she also hold important positions in some other offices.
Ms. Monowara possesses prudent wisdom with her extensive experience in Government Accounting and Auditing. For International Training, Seminar and Mission Audit purpose she has visited a number of countries including India, the USA, United Kingdom, China, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, France, Greece, Jordan, Germany, Bahrain, South Korea, Italy, Egypt and many more.
Ms. Monowara has interest in literature, management and governance. She came from a reputable Muslim family and was born on 23rd March, 1964 in Banarer Per village of Jamalpur district. Ms. Monowara is married and mother of one son and two daughters.
